Or: Don’t show your danglies or butt when praying to God! You’ll moon your freinds!

Hahaha!

Exodus chapter twenty is the chapter where God was speaking to the Israelites about the ten commandments, and laying down the laws that would protect, preserve their nation, and set priorities that both honored Him and the gifts he’d given them.

Verse 26 made me go “Huh?” ( Exodus 20:26 )

So I googled it, and came up with this forum page.

Go ahead and read the forum post, the first one. It explains how nomads down in the middle east don’t wear loincloths under their clothes, and high steps would have made people laugh or be shocked by what they saw under the priest’s clothes if he had to climb up high to burn an offering in a supplication to God for peace, forgiveness and to worship Him.

I sure don’t want to be laughing or lusting when I want to be in Jesus’ glory and presance because of something shocking I saw! I love the feeling of holiness and awesomeness I get when singing and praising him.

You know, another word that always has confused me is glory – always used in scripture to describe what people see and feel around Angels and in the presance of God, like in Exodus 20. Why were the Israelites so scared of the voice and thunder on the mountain? Glory.. Glory is.. A whole study for itself, and it’s awesome.

When I’m not in church a long time, I miss the feeling of Glory. I miss.. Holiness, and something awesome, different and bigger than myself and my everyday life, concerns and troubles.

Here’s a good study on Love and Glory.
