A guest-speaker in our church touched my heart while I was wandering…

In the way we sometimes do when we christians, at least the ones that have felt and accepted the holy spirit, don’t feel like being deep into churchthings and when we get distracted. It’s called backsliding among us Jesus-freaks, and happens to everyone who either says they are or pretends to be a Christian.

I say pretend, because really, it’s easy to be drawn into a warm and loving community, but not really to get absorbed into the core of things. Many churches are suffering what I might call ‘preacher-in-the-pulpit’ syndrome, where church is all about just listening to a guy at a podium talking about being good, and what society ought to do, and all that. A good, hot church.. well, going there, if God’s looking to work in you, you’ll usually have some emotional response to it!

And really, the heart of the game is to be in the small groups, where you can really absorb other’s experience, comfort, advice, and perspectives, and have their hep opening the bible and the word to you.

— Post to continue when I have more time to write. And no, it’s never quite 100% the story one expects to hear. :3
